Corey Heim Wins in Super Late Model Ranks at SpeedFest as Pollard, Nasse Tangle

CORDELE, GA – Seventeen-year-old Georgia native Corey Heim won the ARCA/CRA Super Series SpeedFest at Watermelon Capital Speedway, doing so in front of his home-state crowd as Bubba Pollard and Stephen Nasse added another chapter to their rivalry.

Heim made the winning move with a dandy crossover on fellow Marietta driver Kyle Plott in the final turn of the 200-lap Super Late Model portion of the event. The two had battled door-to-door and bumper-to-bumper throughout a green-white-checker finale en route to a photo finish. Fellow Georgia driver Dawson Fletcher came home third, making it an all Peach State podium.

Just moments earlier, Pollard and Nasse had leaned on each other for a number of laps as they battled for the lead. With 13 laps to go, Pollard drifted high and made contact with Nasse in Turn Two. At the end of the backstretch, Nasse retaliated and spun Pollard. On the ensuing restart, both drivers were placed in the rear and Pollard turned Nasse with 11 circuits remaining. Each then retired from the race, leading to a heated post-race altercation and setting the stage for Heim and Plott’s two-lap duel.
