Northwest SLM Series announces 2020 Race Schedule

MOORESVILLE, NC – The Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour has announced that due to the restrictions outlined in Phase Three of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s “Forward Virginia” reopening plan, the race originally scheduled for South Boston Speedway on Sept. 19 will now move to Florence Motor Speedway in Florence, South Carolina. The Aaron’s 250 will feature the Super Late Models and Late Model Stock Cars and run on Oct. 3.

“While we are disappointed that we cannot return to South Boston in 2020, we are excited to bring the Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour to Florence for the first time,” said CARS Tour President Jack McNelly. “Steve Zacharias and his team have worked incredibly hard in their first few months at Florence Motor Speedway and we look forward to bringing both of our series there at the start of October.”

The Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour has also announced that due to the cancellation of the Peach State Classic, which was to be run on Oct. 25 at Gresham Motorsports Park in Gresham, Georgia, the final points-paying race of the Super Late Model season will now be the All-American 400 at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, to be run on Nov. 1 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The All-American 400 is the flagship event of the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and one of the largest short-track races in the United States. Since 1981, the best drivers from across the country have come to the Music City in search of victory. Former winners of the race include NASCAR Hall of Famers Rusty Wallace and Darrell Waltrip, as well as Jeff Purvis, Chris Gabehardt and Bubba Pollard.

In 2020, the All-American 400 will also be where the CARS Tour crowns its Super Late Model Champion. It will be one of two series crowning a champion in Nashville this year, as the Southern Super Series has also designated the race as its title-decider. Both the CARS Tour and the SSS will join the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS on that weekend, as all three series will compete in the same race.

“The opportunity to determine a champion at the All-American 400 will be special for all of us at the CARS Tour,” said McNelly. “The All-American 400 is a classic of the American short track schedule, and with three different series competing there that weekend, this year’s race should be one of the most competitive in its nearly 40-year history.”

The Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour’s COVID-19 policies will continue to be in effect for both races at Florence and Nashville. CARS Tour drivers and teams will be temperature screened before entering both tracks, and masks will be required on all spotters and strongly recommended in the infield. Masks will also be required for all Victory Lane celebrations.
