ROSEVILLE, CA – One driver who is anxious to get back behind the wheel at All American Speedway is John Moore. The Granite Bay, CA driver calls All American Speedway his home track, and after scoring a career best SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series finish of second last month. He is especially eager to return to the scene of the crime and steal one more position on September 26th.

The SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series will head back to All American Speedway on September 26th for the “JM Environmental Inc. Wild West Shootout Round #2 – Thunderstruck 127 presented by 51 FIFTY”. It will be Round #6 on the schedule and will pay $5,000 to the winner, thanks to the Winner’s Bonus from McGunegill Engine Performance. A Halfway Break is scheduled for the event, and the driver who leads lap 27 will receive an additional $1,000 thanks to JM Environmental. The PFC Brakes Zero Drag Fast Time Award winner will also receive $500, thanks to JM Environmental Inc.

On August 16th, Moore drove from 16th on the grid to score the runner-up finish behind Derek Thorn. It was a wild event that saw a season high 11 cautions. Moore drove a calculated race to find himself near the top of the board as the checkered fell.

“It was a good race night”, Moore told the Southwest Tour Series. “It was a good old-fashioned door banging stock car race full of excitement. It lended itself to my driving abilities, to able to stay out of the mess for the most part. I ended up with a good finish. I probably had a top-five car that ended up in second.”

After being near the top of the board in each of the practice sessions, a season’s worst 16th place effort in qualifying was a disappointment. Moore felt he had a winning car, but he attributes the poor effort to tire selection. With the knowledge gained, however, he confident heading back to Roseville.

“The tires have been a big issue this year. My race car was a winning race car in practice. Then we put on our qualifying/race tires. With the compound and the sizes, it was two different race cars. We did what we could with what tires were available at the track. With the knowledge that we learned, we think we have a better shot at winning, or at least another strong finish in this race.”.

Moore currently sits eighth in the current SPEARS Southwest Tour Series Championship Standings. He has the one top-five and two top-10’s. In 32 career starts, he has two top-five and 15 top-10 efforts. The “Ironman” has an impressive record of only two DNF’s in those 32 starts, a number which represents the fourth best finishing percentage in series history.

The two-time Pacific Challenge Series winner, and its’ 2015 Champion, is still looking for his first SRL victory however, and his home track in Roseville would be the perfect place to get that win.

“A win in Roseville, at All American Speedway, would be sweet”, Moore declared. “I feel like I should win every race I enter. It’s been quite frustrating.”

The driver of the JM Environmental Chevy was an integral part of the Roseville track’s expansion and redesign before the 2008 season. In 2018, with Moore’s encouragement, the track implemented an event using the “high line” through turns three and four. The racing on the track proved to be exciting and a compromised version of the “high line” has been in use throughout the 2020 season.

“I actually designed the “high line” back in 2007, with Bill McAnally and some other friends”, Moore explained. “We all volunteered and did the remodel of the speedway. I designed turns three and four to mirror Stockton 99 Speedway. It never caught on because the drivers discovered they could go faster around the bottom, so the top never really got used. I have been pushing all these years to get the line moved up. It is a compromise where it is at now. It’s not where I would like it, but its better than the bottom feeder that it was in the beginning.”

Moore is not only involved with All American Speedway, he has also been a big sponsor of the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series. Moore and JM Environmental sponsored the SRL’s Roseville event in 2019, but when Covid-19 hit, and fans were not allowed to attend the series events, Moore and Carlos Vieira stepped up. Their sponsorship’s allowed the series to continue to pay out their standard event purses at each event. The support Moore lends is a result of his enthusiasm for the sport and the series, as Moore stated.

“I have a big passion for the sport, and I knew it needed my help to make it happen. I wanted to see the series continue to be successful, so I felt like that was the right thing to do.”

While Moore has been a big supporter of racing over the years, he has also had his fair share of help. The Granite Bay, CA driver is thankful for those who have enriched his racing program, both fans, crew and family alike.

“I want to thank the crew at JD Motorsports, that helps me build my race car”, Moore began. “Guys like Mike Doss, Jeremy Doss, Duane Sharp, and the rest of the fellas. I’d also like to thank the SRL, as a series, for having the passion to keep digging, and still provide the means for stock car racing through challenging times with a positive attitude. I’d like to thank the fans that continue to monitor the races through the internet, and also the fans that come through the back gate and want to be a part of the event. I love the passion of the people in stock car racing.”

Moore continued, “I would also like to thank my wife for supporting Cole and I in our passion.  I’m thankful for all the clients over the years that have hired JM Environmental for their projects.”

Practice for the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is scheduled to begin at 12:30 pm (PST) on Saturday, with Qualifying at 4:15 pm and Opening Ceremonies at 5:00 pm.  The SRL will be joined by the NASCAR Late Models, Jaws Gear Limited Modifieds, Super Stocks, F4, Jr. Late Models and the Bando/Mini Cups.
