WISCONSIN DELLS, WI – When the ‘Stars and Cars’ of the ARCA Midwest Tour roll into Dells Raceway Park for this Saturday (September 5) night’s $10,000 to win Joe Shear Classic 200, many are hopeful that their recent success at the one-third mile paved oval located just outside the Waterpark Capital of the World, will translate into a milestone career victory. While all four have a pedigree of winning, none have yet won a Joe Shear Classic.

Defending Midwest Tour Champion Casey Johnson, who currently sits third in Tour points is the most recent Super Late Model winner at DRP. Johnson captured the Badger State 125 for the second consecutive year, three weeks ago. DRP has also been kind to 2018 Midwest Tour Champion Dalton Zehr. Zehr and his Gildan Racing Team have twice visited victory lane there in 2020 with wins over the Fourth of July Holiday and in early August. He was crowned the Alive for 5 Series Champion last year, a five race series consisting of events at Madison International Speedway and Dells Raceway Park.

2019 saw these two drivers battle for the ARCA Midwest Tour Rookie of the Year title and with it a test in an ARCA Menards Series car at Daytona International Speedway. Gabe Sommers clawed his way to the ROY honors on the strength of winning the Detjens Memorial 125 at State Park Speedway, his first Midwest Tour feature win. Sommers also won the Tundra Series event at DRP in 2019. Like Sommers, Ryan Farrell put the Midwest short track scene on notice last season and then followed that with a win in the opening round of the 2020 Alive for 5 Series at DRP, giving credit to ‘The Best Unpaid Crew’ in all of racing. Farrell and his #80 machine have been fast everywhere they have raced the past two seasons.

Former Golden Sands Speedway and two-time Marshfield Super Speedway Champion Jason Weinkauf became the 35th entry for Saturday night’s Joe Shear Classic 200. Weinkauf, who has one career ARCA Midwest Tour victory, coming at Marshfield has run a limited schedule as of late but will pilot the Jay Van Der Geest 2019 State Park Speedway Championship car on Saturday.

Joining the Midwest Tour will be the Midwest Trucks and 602 Late Models. Spectator events will open at 3pm for the Holiday weekend special event, with qualifying at 4:30 and racing at 6pm Saturday night September 5. Adult general admission tickets are $25, Seniors (65 and over) and Students (ages 13-17) are $22 with kids ages 12 and under admitted free.

General admission tickets can be purchased in advance (see link below) or at the track box office on the day of the event. Those that purchased tickets for the postponed May 3 Joe Shear Classic 200 at Madison International Speedway can use that ticket to gain admission at Dells Raceway Park Saturday September 5. For additional information please visit www.midwesttour.racing or email gm@misracing.com. Dells Raceway Park is located two miles west of I-90/94 at Exit 85 (Rocky Arbor) just off of Highway 12.
