JAMES RIVER, NS – Management for Riverside International Speedway is excited to announce they are tentatively planning an event for September 26, pending finalizing a Guest Management plan with Nova Scotia’s Public Health authorities. It was announced by government officials last week that the 100-acre facility is on a shortlist of four sports stadiums in Nova Scotia being considered for larger gatherings, with appropriate COVID-19 protocols in place.
The afternoon event will see the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour along with at least one other racing series.
“We appreciate this opportunity, and the guidance provided by Public Health,” said Paul McLean, General Manager of Riverside International Speedway. “We take our responsibility in hosting a larger gathering seriously and thank our fans, racers, and staff in advance for their understanding and cooperation as we work through this. It is our goal to provide a space where folks will feel comfortable with a new normal while at the same time enjoying some sense of normalcy from pre-COVID times.”
The Guest Management plan would see less than 20% maximum capacity with the grandstand area split into separate zones, each with a maximum of 250 spectators and self-contained with their own entry/exit, washrooms, and seating. The infield area will be another zone and limited to essential staff and race team members. Numerous other COVID-19 protocols will be in place and published once finalized.
Pro stock race teams that plan to enter this event should submit their race registration form by Noon on Tuesday, September 7. Pit parking will be based on the order registrations are received; it is expected there will be fewer spaces available due to COVID-19 restrictions. The race registration form can be found here.
