Defending ‘DIxieland Challenge’ Champion Returns Home to WIR

KAUKAUNA, WI – Perhaps all of Wisconsin is now cheering for him as he embarks on his rookie season in the NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series. It is likely that his fellow Super Late Model drivers are cheering for Ty Majeski to have a breakout season in the Trucks, so he races around home a bit less. They have seen him have breakout seasons in his Super Late Model all too often. The four-time ARCA Midwest Tour Champion returns to Wisconsin International Raceway this Tuesday night August 4 for the Gandrud Auto Group 250.

Majeski, from nearby Seymour won the 250-lap contest last year, which was the start of a four race win streak in Midwest Tour action which concluded with a win in the Oktoberfest 200 at LaCrosse (WI) Fairgrounds Speedway, his 23rd Tour victory. This year’s list of drivers entered for Tuesday night looks like an all-star line-up, with top drivers not only from the region but from the nation coming to Kaukauna to best Majeski on his home turf. Drivers like NASCAR Cup Champion Kyle Busch, Snowball Derby Winner Travis Braden, Tour and WIR Champ Casey Johnson, Super Late Model hero Bubba Pollard as well as the best Fox River and the Midwest has to offer all have their sights set on the 25 year old Majeski.

Now with over 100 Late Model feature victories in his career, Majeski has not slowed down this year. The 100th came during Speedweeks in February at New Smyrna (FL) Speedway during the Orange Blossom 100 and Majeski recently won his second Slinger Nationals earlier this month. The iRacing superstar has been nothing but spectacular on and off the track, winning major events such as the Winter Showdown at Kern County (CA) Raceway Park and he won a record tying third Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway in May.

Having moved to Charlotte, NC and racing full time for Niece Motorsports, Majeski’s Super Late Model appearances are a bit more spread apart as he concentrates on his developing NASCAR Truck career. This may be one of just a few Midwest Tour or WIR appearances this season for Majeski.

Advance discount tickets for the Gandrud Auto Group 250 are $20 and can be purchased online at www.midwesttour.racing through August 3. Tickets will also be available on race day at the gate for $25. Spectator gates open at 4pm, qualifying will begin at 5pm with the first race at 7pm during the Tuesday Night August 4 Special Event at Wisconsin International Raceway.

A 28 car field is scheduled to start ‘Wisconsin’s Richest One Day Race’ which pays $10,000 to the winner of the 250 lap event and $1,200 to start. Drivers from ten states and Canada are expected to attempt to make the starting grid. The Midwest Truck Series will join the ARCA Midwest Tour with the trucks contesting a 35 lap feature event.
