SPOKANE, WA – For the first time in the history of the Northwest Super Late Model Series, its first race of the season will be held in Western Washington. The Kick-Off 100 is set for August 15 at South Sound Speedway.

In the past tracks in Eastern Washington have served as the site of the series’ first event. With 2020 throwing racing across the country a unique curve, the best in the Northwest are now set to get the chase for the championship underway at the .375-mile oval just outside of Tenino, Wash.

“While the series has been in a holding pattern so far in 2020, we’ve been working with our partners to see where the first race could be held and under what circumstances,” said NWSLMS Director Jarrod Goodwin. “The Kick-Off 100 will be unique in a variety of ways from practice sessions, the shortened race distance, the purse structure and sadly no fans in the grandstands.”

There will be no entry fees charged to the teams pertaining to their race car participating in the event. A pit pass will be required with South Sound Speedway: Members paying $35 and Non-Members paying $45 for the day.

Series officials and South Sound Speedway leaders are also working on securing business and fan support in a lap sponsorship program that would be added to the overall race purse, Goodwin added.

“Heading into August, the total race purse has been set at $5,000, with $500 paid to the winner and $200 to all participants from second place to 24th. The Behn family would consider starting more than 24 cars if the turnout is there. Our officials, the track leadership, business partners and others are active in the region in securing funds to grow this starting purse and we anticipate it being bigger once we get going on August 15. One thing the fans can do to show their support is to sponsor a lap of racing in the 100-lap event, $50 per lap with 100 percent of the funds raised going to the teams in the race. To be part of the lap sponsorship program email the series at northwestsuperlatemodels@gmail.com or Call Nick Behn @ Race Car Supply (360) 858-1464 to make your pledge in lap sponsorship.

South Sound Speedway is also working on offering a Live Stream option for fans to be part of the racing action.
